View RecordsPublic criminal case access for Marshall County depends on the state. Alabama court terminals and Indiana MyCase illustrate distinct ways to identify and request a file.
The name Marshall County is not enough to select a criminal-record system. The Alabama and Indiana routes here are examples within their own states, not a complete list of possible counties. Establish the state and court from the citation or case paperwork first. Court files, police incident reports, and statewide criminal-history checks answer different questions.
Marshall County’s Alabama circuit-court site lists a public-access computer in the Guntersville Circuit Clerk’s Office for court-record searching. The office is at 424 Blount Avenue, Suite 201, Guntersville, AL 35976, with published weekday hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Bring the case reference or enough accurate information to distinguish the person and proceeding.
For the criminal division, call 256-571-7785: option 3 reaches District Criminal and option 4 Circuit Criminal. Alabama’s court-access rules provide free public viewing of district and circuit electronic court records at the clerk’s office, subject to confidentiality restrictions; copies and remote subscription access are separate. Confirm the particular file’s availability and any copy or certification total with the responsible division.
Indiana’s official Marshall County court page points to MyCase for case information and some documents. Use the county and case number where possible; if searching by name, compare the court and dates as well as available identifiers. Record the cause number and the entry for the disposition before requesting copies. A name match alone is not an identity determination.
Indiana warns that MyCase does not include every court and that historical coverage varies by county. It displays nonconfidential cases, but not every document in a listed case is online. An absent document should be requested from the clerk where the case was heard. An empty search is therefore not a complete criminal-history clearance.
If your public case is eligible, MyCase provides an Is this your case? process. Create an Indiana Courts account and obtain a case-access code after verifying that you are a party. You can request a letter at the case’s listed mailing address or contact the clerk to verify identity; for an in-person visit, bring valid identification and the case number.
The code expires after 21 days. Connected access lasts 180 days and renews with continued access as described by the court. Party access may reveal documents unavailable to the general public, but it does not unlock every confidential item or every case type. If your case address is wrong, contact the clerk before using the mailed-code route. These are Indiana procedures, not Alabama access rules.
Marshall County Indiana’s published copy-request form asks for contact details, cause number, document date, document description, and number of copies. It lists $1 per page plus $3 for each certification. Request the actual charging document, chronological case summary, judgment, or other order needed; a certified copy and a general history search are different purchases.
The form gives [email protected] for records correspondence and 574-936-8922 for questions or credit-card payment. Mail requests go to the Clerk’s Records Department, 211 West Madison Street, Plymouth, IN 46563, with payment and a self-addressed stamped envelope; its mail instructions list cash or money order payable to Marshall County Clerk. For email ordering and in-person pickup, include the same identifying details.
The verified Indiana form does not promise a fixed turnaround; the Alabama office guidance does not quote the cost of your particular certified document. Ask the selected clerk about current timing, page count, certification, and delivery before making a deadline-dependent order. Do not transfer Indiana’s prices to Alabama.
Read the latest order, not only the offense label. An arrest, a filed charge, and a conviction are different stages; multiple entries with one case number may belong to a single proceeding. Preserve the case number and supporting order if an online summary seems incomplete, and ask that clerk to clarify the entry or correction process.
Indiana directs criminal-history and police-record requests to law enforcement rather than the courts and links State Police history services. Its court page expressly says MyCase is not for a complete criminal history. A court clerk’s copy also cannot establish current custody. Choose a broader repository or the responsible police agency only when that is the record your task calls for.
